Since the founding of this country, men and women have risked their lives — many making the ultimate sacrifice — to protect their fellow Americans and keep our nation free.
I grew up in a family that is devoted to public service. My brothers and my father, eight decades plus in the military. I have seen the unselfish actions that these men and women dedicate their lives to–often putting family, friends, and their lives on hold in service of this incredible nation we call home.
When I think of my family, I can’t help but feel grateful. Not just for my brothers and father as inspiring men, but for their years of service that allows kids, who grew up like me, to live up to their American Dream. The American Dream is alive and well in this country, and it’s all thanks to the men and women in uniform who fight every day to defend it.
Veterans are the very best of what it means to be an American. They have so much faith in what America can be that they’re willing to lay their lives on the line to protect that very vision. I can’t think of a more perfect example of the mindset this country was founded on. The unending pursuance of freedom, no matter what stands in its way.
We need to honor and protect our veterans, which means guaranteeing them the help and support they have earned and deserve when they get home.
So when you see a veteran take the time to say, thank you. Our nation has benefited from their sacrificial service. This is the day that we get to share with them our heartfelt affection.
Let’s all pause for a moment to thank our veterans and celebrate the patriotism that makes our nation great.
God Bless our troops, and God Bless America.
