America's Great Test
April the 12th, 1861, the first shots of the Civil War were fired and our country faced a defining moment. Would we continue to be one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all? America's soul was tested and we prevailed!
In April, I started this journey at Fort Sumter. For those that didn’t grow up in South Carolina, like I did, some might not grasp the importance of this landmark in American history.
You see, Fort Sumter was the location where those first shots of the Civil War were fired. That same Civil War that tested our nation. Sure, we’d faced foreign adversaries, but this was the first time we had to make a decision. Would we band together to form a more perfect union? Or would our differences be great enough to tear this nation apart?
We’re once again being tested. The test is different from the last one we faced, however. This time, the embers of hate are being stoked with words, not war. Once again we must win this fight, much like the fight we fought back in 1861. It’s a defining moment for our country.
Once again we must come together and decide what the future of our nation looks like. Is it a nation of hope? A nation of faith? Will we remain one nation under God? Or is it a nation of despair and division?
If Joe Biden and the radical Left have their way, it will be the latter. Every day they weaken our resolve as a nation. They shun law and order and enable chaos and fear. They want Americans to worship the government, not God. Every day that Joe Biden and the radical Left are in power is another day of work we’ll need to put in to restore our great nation.
But America is ready to put that work in. I can feel it. We’re ready to overcome our division and unite to maintain our status as the beacon of freedom in the world.
I will never back down in defense of the conservative values that make America exceptional.
I will defend the Judeo-Christian foundation our nation is built on, and protect
our religious liberty.
I will stand up to Communist China,
and restore opportunities for hardworking Americans
to thrive and prosper.
I will fight to give every parent a choice in education so their children
have a better chance in life.
I will defend our borders
and our neighborhood streets.
I will protect our most fundamental right -the right to life itself.
I bear witness that America can do for anyone what she has done for me! But we must rise up to the challenges of our time. As we did in 1861 as America faced her most significant test of fortitude yet, we WILL rise to the occasion, and protect this great nation that we are blessed to call home.
I can’t wait to share more with you over the coming months, and I look forward to speaking with and hearing from Americans across the country.
